SWEDEN IN THE CONTEXT OF UKRAINE’S INCURSION INTO THE KURSK REGION

Summary/Abstract: On August 6, 2024, Ukrainian troops entered the territory of the Russian Federation, in the Kursk region. This attack surprised both Russia and the international community, the fact itself practically constituting the first attack against Russia, on its own territory, since the end of the Second World War, in 1945. Debates regarding the reasons and goals of this military action have was and is the order of the day. This study presents the political-military context in Sweden, around the incursion of Ukraine in the Kursk Region, before and after this act of courage shown by Ukraine. It is clear that Sweden, as a recent NATO member state, is making efforts to adapt to the new tendencies of global security. Sweden consistently remains a strong member of the club of states that share the values of democracy and stability.
