Summary/Abstract: It is clearly visible that the modern school environment is subject to significant changes determined primarily by the new expectations of students signaling the need for respect for their autonomy, partnership treatment in working on their personal development, as well as the need to understand the purposefulness and usefulness of the educational activities undertaken. The situation determines the need to reformulate the teaching process into a learning process and thus transform the school environment based on the transmission of knowledge into an environment of searching and constructing knowledge, creating conditions for students’ active learning and, at the same time, a learning environment that can effectively adapt to changing conditions, open to new ideas and trends, to permanent improve- ment and transformation. The aim of the article is to present the most important assumptions of the school of teach- ing and the school of learning as a learning organization, which is a place that, by influencing the development and educational processes of the young generation, can actually influence the shape of the functioning of the society of the future.
