Summary/Abstract: The article examines the emergence of theories of color perception. Starting with the ancient Greek philosophers and passing through Indian, Persian and Arabic sources, the text takes us to Europe. Moving through the Middle Ages to the advent of the "Scientific Revolution" and the formation of the heliocentric model of the universe.
