Information security protection policies - part of management responsibilities

Summary/Abstract: The report presents the ever-increasing role of information systems in making adequate decisions and puts them in the focus of the management of public organizations and the responsibilities of their managers in creating an up-to-date and productive internal regulatory framework that guarantees compliance with the principles of legality, good financial management and transparency. Attention is drawn to the rapid development of information technologies and their transformation into an irrevocable and necessary accompanying part in all spheres of human activity, while at the same time requiring adequate control activities to achieve reasonable confidence in security in the processing, use, storage and protection of information and information technologies. The report offers an author‘s control system with an exemplary scope of rules for working with information systems and ensuring information security, which, without claiming to be exhaustive and covering all cases, can serve as a basis applicable to small public sector organizations.
