Summary/Abstract: The article reconstructs the process of appellativization of the ChatGPT name and characterizes factors contributing to the disintegration of closed compound word. It was based on internet and corpus data. It was concluded that appellativization, which results is the chat GPT and czat GPT forms in Polish and the chat GPT form in English, is favored, among others, by the appearance of transitional variants in texts: closed compound word with internal inflection (ChataGPT/ChatuGPT) and open compound word with inflected head noun (Chata GPT/Chatu GPT) in Polish and open compound word Chat GPT in English.
