Summary/Abstract: The present paper reviews the literary start of Hristo G. Danov publishing house. The study offers an overview of the books first published by the publisher. An emphasis is placed on the first work of fiction that they printed in the 1960s – the novel Lenko. The paper argues that the goal of the publishing house was to promote Marxist-Leninist ideology and create a new readership. The reflections presented in the paper stem from the understanding that publishing history begets literary history, and literary history looks back at the history of a publishing house.
