Summary/Abstract: The study presents the factors and conditions determining the modern security architecture in the Danube area. This was done on the basis of an analysis of its development after the dissolution of the bipolar world in the years 1990-2023, which made it possible to identify possible opportunities and threats for the region’s security. Particular attention was paid to the positive and negative factors generated by state actors from outside the region and the will and manner in which the Danube states pursue their national interests, both individually and collectively, which directly affect the quality and sustainability of the security architecture in the region.
