Summary/Abstract: The revised Law on Spatial Planning and Development faces a significant challenge: howto effectively incorporate public comments into planning processes. Ensuring the creation of well-planned, well-designed, and well-maintained metropolises, cities, and rural areas, which includeattractive public spaces, is crucial for improving residents’ quality of life. This article introducesan innovative research method designed to help local government units involve a diverse array ofstakeholders in the design and planning of public spaces through active and inclusive participation. The method was meticulously developed and rigorously tested during research conducted in variousmunicipalities within the Pomeranian Voivodeship. One key aspect of this method is that it empha-sizes the crucial role of local government officials. These officials are uniquely positioned due to theirdual role: they possess valuable knowledge and experience related to urban planning, while also beingusers and residents of the municipality, not merely employees of the office. This dual perspectiveallows them to contribute more effectively to the planning process, ensuring that the development ofpublic spaces aligns with the needs and preferences of the community. By integrating public feedbackand the insights of local officials, this method aims to enhance the overall planning process, leadingto more vibrant and livable urban and rural environments.
