Reviving anti-Croatian resentments from World War II: Analysis based on selected statements by Aleksandar Vučić

Summary/Abstract: Th e present article demonstrates the ways in which painful history and inter-state resentments are utilizedto construct a narrative. Th e author focuses on selected statements by Serbian president Aleksandar Vučićover the last 30 years to illustrate how such a procedure is conducted in practice. Th rough the analysis ofthe speeches, the author comes to the conclusion that the Serbian politician’s antipathy towards Croatians isstrenghtening his position in the country as a defender of national interest.
