Summary/Abstract: In the ‘Dialogue’ column, Andrea Zlatar discusses with Slavenka Drakulić, a Croatian intellectual and writer, the whole set of issues that Drakulić recognizes as crucial in her writing and analyses them through her own opulent corpus of work. Issues such as women’s issues, feminism, disease, literature, living in totalitarian societies and societies based on nationalistic drives surface in Drakulić’s pregnant reflections and penetrating attempts to provide answers to some of the questions bothering not only writers, but also ordinary people in the region.
