Summary/Abstract: The funeral rite of representatives of any community is characterized by a set of specific symbolic actions. It could be the method of burial (cremation, inhumation, mummification, exhibition, etc.), its type (single, pair, triple, collective), the position of the deceased, the form of the burial structure, ritual actions during the funeral and after it, a set of accompanying equipment, and localization of cemeteries. The analysis of these components should give a key to the interpretation of archaeological burial monuments (Алёкшин 1981а, 3; Алёкшин 1981b, 19; Alekshin 1983, 138).
