Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we explore Parmenides’ teaching about what it is. Thanks, first of all, to Simplicius’s comments, his poem has been preserved almost in its entirety. Parmenides believed that he had found the most reliable way of theorizing about being. In his Περὶ φύσεως, Parmenides expounded the doctrine of one, eternal and immovable being. We will try to show that his main thought - that it is does not represent an empty tautology, but something much more, as Heidegger said in his lectures on phenomenology - the highest metaphysical truth. In this regard, we will also use the philological-comparative method to point out that the Greek εἰμί, εἶναι and the parti- ciple derived from it το ὅν are sufficient in themselves for intellectual exploration of reality. The verb εἰμί is useful to Parmenides in attempt to overcome δόξαι as human thought and so his concept of being is grounded in the lexical content of the verb εἰμί, εἶναι.
