Summary/Abstract: In the material we attempts to present Dimitar Nenov, who we determine as Intellectual-Marginal in Bulgarian culture, against the background of his time and by the philosophy of existentialism. His unique personality and the drama of his life and his work can be accurately assessed in the light of existentialism. My assertion is motivated on the basis of letters of Nenov from 1949 to Ivan Staykov – his piano student, and basis of the “fate” of the score of Nenov suite “Christmas” as well as parallels with the characters of Camus and Dostoevsky. The article consists of several sections: 1. La Confession d’un enfant du siècle; 2. Nenov – “L’Étranger” (“Foreigner”) and “Drugoselets” (by Camus and Yovkov); 3. Latency as a metaphor. The confession is the most severe degree of existential self-revelation. The letters to Ivan Staykov have two character levels: the front is a level of concrete plot, the second level is the symbol of time and the philosophy of existentialism. Nenov seems prototype and participant in “two movies” - that of L’Étranger in the plot of Camus and “Drugoselets” of Yovkov. Both texts treat the topic of loneliness and closeness to the death. The term latency which is introduced by Hans Ulrich Gumbreht is used for the presentation of an absurd situation relating to the orchestral suite “Christmas” of Nenov. Situations, phenomena, according Gubreht are latent when a long time, maybe decades, they “have stood our attempts to be identified”.
