Summary/Abstract: The International Conference 'Central European Jewish Communities in the Toleration and Emancipation Period, 1781–1938,' held at Palacký University in Olomouc, aimed to provide a broader perspective on Jewish communities in Central Europe, often studied by regional historians. It emphasized the importance of examining communal structures and their functions during the period of rapid legal and social change known as the emancipation period. The conference extended the conventional chronological boundaries to 1938 to explore the continuity of Jewish community forms and structures. It featured diverse perspectives from experts in various countries, including the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Hungary, and Croatia. The conference also included a guided tour of historical Jewish sites in Olomouc using the Actionbound mobile app. The event was organized by the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Kurt and Ursula Schubert Center for Jewish Studies at Palacký University, and the Institute for Jewish History in Austria.
