Summary/Abstract: This book review outlines the main reasons for which Knut Hamsun has been so closely connected to Northern Norway. His entire writing is either filled with his words from North Norwegian dialect or with places and characters from the north. Thus, the author, a well-known Hamsun researcher and a literary figure concerned with the culture of the north, argues that Knut Hamsun’s identity and inspiration as a writer traces back to his childhood area: Northern Norway.
