The 19th Century Book Collection of the Olsztyn Voivodeship Public Library

Summary/Abstract: The article characterises the collection of 19th century prints held in the collection of the Emil-ia Sukertowa-Biedrawina Voivodeship Public Library in Olsztyn. The material provides a sourcerepresenting the current numerical and chronological status of the book collection. The authordiscusses the provenance of the library’s collection from the perspective of provenance researchconducted since 2022, as well as the history of the institution in the context of the formationof the post-war libraries in Olsztyn and the fate of the collections abandoned by the Germans.The aim of the paper is to provide a preliminary analysis of the content and publication of the col-lection, including the language of the publications, the places of publication and the thematicrange of the prints, with a particular emphasis on regional (East Prussian) themes, as well as anoverview of the current state of preservation of the collection in light of the conservation workcarried out in recent years. Looking at these issues will allow the collection of historical booksof the Voivodeship Library in Olsztyn to be included in research into the history of librarianshipin Warmia and Mazury, as well as to extend the conservation care.
