Summary/Abstract: The contribution The Poetry of Rudolf Dilong in the Service of the National Idea focuses, through selected collec- tions of poetry by this most prolific representative of Catholic modernism in the years 1931–1945, on the mapping the ways in which national themes were portrayed in his poems – often alongside religious-spiritual motifs. The aim is to identify the poetic manifestations of his poetry’s convergence with national rhetoric in the service of palingenesis – the revolutionary revival of the nation (R. Griffin). This involves tracing the movement between the poles of the universal and the national, identifying malignant forms of nationalism in his poetry, and uncovering the symptoms by which the nationalizing moment manifested itself in his work, such as through typical vocabulary, thematic constants, recurring symbols, the creation of automyths, etc.
