Summary/Abstract: The hoard of bronze artifacts was found approximately 2.4 km north of the northeastern outskirts of the village of Marinici in the Nisporeni District. It consists of 19 items, two of which are intact and the rest are fragmented and show signs of intentional bending and breaking. In particular, the hoard contains: celts (two whole, one broken in two and one fragmented), sickles (seven fragments from four specimens), four defective sickles, one fragment of a spearhead, an unidentified fragment and casting scrap. Typologically, it belongs to complex hoards, as it contains three functional categories: tools, weapons and scrap. The hoard also fits perfectly into the category of assemblages of this kind, which include mainly fragmented artifacts, broken intentionally. The integrity or fragmentariness of bronze objects in a hoard may provide clues to its nature, as well as the practice of hoarding of this type. In the BrD period, hoards with whole or mostly whole objects constitute 80% of this type of assemblages, their number decreases to 53% in the HaA phase, when hiding of fragmented objects was predominantly practiced, and increases in the HaB1-2 (70%) and HaB3-C (84%) phases. Hoards containing exclusively fragmented objects are sporadic finds and most likely indicate changes in the hoarding custom. Based on the analysis of the metal finds, the hoard uncovered at Marinici can be attributed to the Late Bronze Age.
