Summary/Abstract: To complete the knowledge on the culture of the station of Xarë which is the best representative of Paleolithic in Albania, at least up to the present, by the beginning of the 80s M. Korkuti undertook superficial surveys in Xarë and collected a relatively rich collection of working flint tools. To the 80s belongs the discovery of the station of Gajtan, Baran and Bleran in Northern Albania. The collected material from a decade-long research in this area is relatively rich and belongs to Low Paleolithic to Upper Paleolithic. The author of these discoveries, A. Fistani, has published some preliminary results, but has not published yet the material with the necessary scientific documentation. Recently, it is very important the research at the Konispol Cave (South Albania) during 1993-94 excavated by an Albanian-American team. Earliest cultural stratum Konispol I, belongs to the Upper Paleolithic Age. It is very clear by stratigraphical position and by Carbon (C14) analysis. Nevertheless, Xarë for Southern Albania and Gajtan for Northern Albania, are the most important and representative for this period in Albania.
