Summary/Abstract: The presented labourers’ colonies/neighbourhoods and dwellings are particularly notable not only for their architectural value, but mainly as witnesses of the extension of a phenomenon that became, in the first third of the 20th century, typical for that area. A necessity led to the creation of a fashion, and the fashion, in its turn, solved a necessity – living locations for workers/labourers. This communication signals such examples grouped around factories and agricultural exploitations in Transylvania, to mark the development of the phenomenon and to document the necessity of an exhaustive inventory of the villages.
