Summary/Abstract: Abstract: The act of creating the universe is a topic intensely explored in the manuscripts of the Romanian poet Eminescu, drafts edited by Perpessicius who offered the public an entire filologic edition of the poet’s poems. In general, Eminescu had a number of alternative texts ten times bigger than the ones that were published. Therefore, the paper proposes as the main objective a study of genetic criticism on the vision of cosmogony in Eminescu’s poems. How can the Nothingness before the act of Genesis can be put into words? What are the solutions found by the poet, how does he imagine the idea of nonexistence? We intend to answer at these questions by studying his drafts in order to see the development of a cosmological view. At this point what holds our atention is which elements the poet decides to change and which remain in his texts and also the reason behind these choices. The study aims to investigate the creation of poems, from the first notes to the published version. Thus, it can be seen that his lyricism become more objective, the autobiographical element is masked and the lyrical voice is impersonal. The selected poems are: Letter I, (Scrisoarea I) A prayer of a Dacian, (Rugăciunea unui dac), The story of the star traveller magician (Povestea magului călător in stele), Memento mori, Gemini (Gemenii), Star (Luceafărul). We consider that such a genetic study is important because it gives the critic a direct acces to the original sources of the text, revealing the mechanism of creation and the struggle to find the right words. Also, the dynamism of the creative process indicates the evolution of Eminescu’s poetry.
