Summary/Abstract: The fourteenth Census of the population and housing fund in Bulgaria started on December 4, 1985. The census is designed to fulfill the current demand for data on the country‘s human resources. It accurately and comprehensively reflects the changes in the demographic, educationally-qualification, and socio-economic structures of the Bulgarian population, as well as the processes and social mechanisms that drive these changes. Understanding the qualitative characteristics of the population is essential, as they play a crucial role in shaping the nation‘s employment opportunities. As a result of the extensive preparatory work carried out at a high organizational level from December 4 to 12, 1985, enumerators and controllers carried out the collection of the intended information. The census of the population and the housing fund is conducted with the full support of the Bulgarian people. The current economic and social climate in the country presents favourable conditions and factors for successful implementation, elevating it to the status of a national cause and task.
