Summary/Abstract: In 2019-2020, during rescue archaeological excavations near the village of Ivancha, municipality of Polski Trumbesh, part of an early medieval settlement was uncovered. The present study focuses on three specific features where handmade pottery was found. Through detailed analysis, the chronology of the ceramics is determined in the period after the beginning to around the middle of the 7th century, i.e. the first half of the 7th century AD. The ceramic complex shows diverse cultural influences typical for Romanian Walachia, which is suggested to be the output area of the settlers. These archaeological finds are an important step in our comprehensive understanding of the chronology and cultural interactions of the Lower Danube region in the 7th century and the early years of the First Bulgarian State.
