Summary/Abstract: The article examines Russia in the time of great changes, through the eyes of Nikolai Berdyaev. The First World War, the revolution that followed and the imposition of Bolshevik power are the events that triggered the Russian philosopher's reflections. On the eve of the war, he was optimistic about the greatness of Russia and the new path it would open up to Europe and the world. In Berdyaev's view, it was an event that not only brought Russia out of the war, but overturned the fate of millions of people.
