Summary/Abstract: After the coup on September 9, 1944 and the establishment of a Fatherland Front government in power (September 1944), restrictive measures were taken against the previously distributed literature with pro-fascist and fascist content, publications propagandizing National Socialism and the policies of the Third Reich, as well as those with anti-Soviet, anti-British and anti-American content. The first two lists of such publications appeared at the end of 1944. However, they also included a wide range of publications that had nothing to do with the literature officially declared subject to seizure. The large number of publications relating to the Bulgarian monarchy, as well as literature dedicated to the national question, primarily the topic of Macedonia, is impressive. It can be rightly argued that these lists served as a kind of matrix for political restrictions and various repressions and marked the beginning of institutional censorship in the country.
