Summary/Abstract: In recent years, an unusual phenomenon is observed – the flowering of the horse chestnut (Aesculum hippocastanum) at end of plant vegetation period (October-November). Although this phenomenon is often associated with high temperatures, not specific to that period, the real cause is the consequences of the invasion of a major pest – horse-chestnut leaf miner Cameraria ohridella (Deschka & Dimić, 1986), a monophagous species, recently known in European and world fauna, being described as a new species for science in 1986, in Macedonia, Ohrid city. This process disrupts the natural biorhythm of the tree, leading to a weakening of the vigor every year, and consequently to a decreasing foliage, to a weaker fruiting and finally to the drying of the plant.
