Summary/Abstract: Teodor Bălan (1985-1972) is a prominent personality for Bucovina, about whom historians, teachers, researchers both from Bukowina and from other areas of Romania have written. We know him mostly as a historian and archivist, the two main pillars of his career. But he also distinguished himself as a teacher, collector and editor of documents, publicist. He carried out also a rigorous activity as director of the State Archives in Chernivtsi. He was one of the most erudite connoisseurs of the history of Bucovina, with a sad destiny. The Academic Library of “Ștefan cel Mare University”of Suceava, located in the heart of Bukovina, houses interesting collections, among which a special place is reserved for Special Collections, making a vast and varied book collection available to the general public, under the careful care of professional librarians team.
