Summary/Abstract: The term "kyberbezpečnost" (cybersecurity) has become widely used in contemporary Czech language, appearing in both the Internet Language Guide and the new Academic Dictionary of Contemporary Czech. This term is synonymous with "kybernetická bezpečnost" (cybernetic security) and has gained popularity due to its frequent use in media and public discourse. The spread of "kyberbezpečnost" is influenced by the English term "cybersecurity," which is often translated into Czech as "digitální bezpečnost" (digital security) or "kyberochrana" (cyber protection). While "kyberbezpečnost" is linguistically acceptable and commonly used, it is recommended to use "kybernetická bezpečnost" in official names of institutions. Other compound terms like "infobezpečnost" (information security) are not commonly used in Czech and are not recommended. The article emphasizes the importance of adhering to linguistic rules and the current usage trends in the Czech language.
