Summary/Abstract: NATO's concern for human rights can be illustrated by the following aspects: participation of NATO in resolving humanitarian crises; the imposition of conditions related to human rights to all countries that wish to become members of the alliance; the NATO deployment of post-conflict operations in which actions that contribute to the fulfillment of human rights standards are included. The NATO Summit held in Lisbon in november 2010 shows that NATO will engage in the future to prevent or manage crises which risk to escalate in conflicts and to stabilize post-conflict situations.
