Summary/Abstract: The Tiszazug Microregional Research Program was launched in 2023 by the Hungarian National Museum – National Institute of Archaeology and aims to analyse long-term settlement pattern changes from the Neolithic to the Early Modern Age by returning to the “classical” field survey-based topographical framework. During the first year of the program, we intended to reconsider and optimize the methodology of the field surveys, artifact processing mechanisms, data interpretation and visualization. By adapting an artifact processing mechanism to gain better understanding of the chronological uncertainty properties of the examined sherds. Öcsöd-Kováshalom and its vicinity was chosen as a pilot area to test the methodological advancements, where roughly 11,500 artifacts were collected during the 2023 field campaign.
