Summary/Abstract: In 2023, we witnessed the birth of a major project for Romanian culture: the inauguration of the Hispanic Library of the Cervantes Institute, as a result of the collaboration between a group of prominent Hispanists from the University of Bucharest, the Romanian publishing house Humanitas, and the Cervantes Institute, under the coordination of a scientific committee formed by specialists from various Spanish and Romanian universities. This is a collection of Romanian translations of classic and contemporary Spanish literature, with a special focus on philosophical, ethical, political, and various cultural essays, published under unique editorial conditions. The translations, mostly unpublished, are accompanied by an introductory study, a chronological table, and a complex apparatus of explanatory notes, whose purpose is to allow the current reader to interpret and understand more or less distant eras, in resonance with the present moment and the ongoing historical-cultural debates.
