Summary/Abstract: Religious struggles are a situation in a personʼs life when religion ceases tobe a resource and becomes a source of stress. Religious struggles cover a widerange of experiences. Some of them are intrapsychic, others are interpersonal ormay relate directly to the deity. The research was designed to analyze the rela-tionship between religious struggles, spiritual growth or decline, and to deter-mine the mechanism of this relationship. The moderating role of meaning oflife in this relationship was tested. The study was conducted on a group of 234people (50% women), mostly Roman Catholic religion. The following toolswere used in the study: Religious/Spiritual Struggle Scale (RSS), SpiritualTransformation Scale (STS) and the Purpose in Life Test (PIL). The conductedanalyses showed that religious struggles are significantly associated only withspiritual decline. No changing role of a meaning of life in the association ofreligious struggles with spiritual growth and decline.
