Priorities in Family Catechesis in Polish Pastoral Reality. A Pastoral Proposal

Summary/Abstract: The presented article emphasizes the importance of the family as the basic community for the development of faith. It indicates that it is in the family that the spirituality of children and parents is shaped. Family catechesis should be carried out both “in” the family and “with” the family, which means that parents are the first teachers of faith. The article also discusses the results of research on the religious involvement of families in Poland. They show that most parents see the need for religious education for their children. The need for pastoral support for families is indicated so that they can effectively transmit Christian values. The need for cooperation between parents and the parish community is also emphasized. It is crucial for effective family catechesis.
