Summary/Abstract: This paper presents images of childhood in Magdalena Tulli’s prose. In her novels: Tryby, Włoskie szpilki and Szum, the author returns to the past and analyzes the difficult situation of a child who felt unloved and alienated. The paper emphasizes autobiographical themes, the question of lack of understanding in the family and at school, and the loneliness of a sensitive girl. A lot of space has been devoted to images of the city in Tulli’s prose as an alien area, obliterating the young heroine’s identity.
