Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is the description of one type of media representation of non-binary in the media. The subject of the analysis is the reception of the metaphor ‘nonhuman-nonbinary’. Nonbinary protagonists in popular culture are often non-human characters, e.g., aliens or hybrids. This paper presents the results of a qualitative analysis of online statements about these representations. It shows the diversity of attitudes and opinions of non-binary people towards this metaphor. It is perceived both positively, e.g. as a form of fantasy, a starting point for discussions about non-binary, and negatively, as presenting a false image of non-binary.
