Summary/Abstract: Medžmua (Magmu’a) notebooks, are specific type of manuscripts, containing a lot of records from the different fields like medicine, poetry, kasidas, ilahi, legends, astrology, history, philosophy, astrology, herbalistics, phytotherapy, even cooking recepies. They have a lot of recommendations and hints for the treatment of different diseases, as well as some notes about general and personal hygiene, emphasizing the importance of proper diet and the values of certain kind of food. These manuscripts emerged as a new type of literature in Bosnia and Herzegovina, written in Arabic, Turkish or Bosnian language in the period from 16. to 19.Century. In this historical period, with some new empirical data added, they often served as the only vademecum for almost all diseases, advising people what to do when they could not reach a doctor. Abundant in many, above mentioned, fields, at the same time, they need a lot of careful studying and keeping this literature, as well as of preserving in a proper way in the age of digitalization. Several herbal manuals have been analyzed that seems to be appropriate specimens for analysis of health conditions, treatment and understanding, treatment methods.
