Summary/Abstract: Description is one of the pillars of archival activity. It is supported by the multistage schemes of description, the methodological rules and experience of generations of archivists. However, it is hampered by the nature of the records, mainly the manner of its preparation, specific to a given historical period and the way of archiving. These factors are emphazed in the description of municipal records in general and the Records of the town Pabianice in particular – methodologically interesting archival constructs that are the subject of this paper.
