Summary/Abstract: This study presents some aspects concerning the didactic Romanian literature from Trasylvania. A first stage is the period between XVIth-XVIIth centuries when religious books were used as textbooks in schools. The religious books were the only ones in the spiritual Romanian space, for a lot of time, which also performed a wider social function, that of helping to acquire knowledge about reading and writing. In general, the didactic material from these centuries was formed from Psalter, catechism and ABC book. Printing these books in Romanian, action generated by the ideas of the Religious reform, had certainaly positive consequences on the Romanian school, people from Transylvania becoming aware of the fact that a mass education in the language of the nation was possible.
