CONCILIATION AS A FUNCTION OF THE STATE LABOUR INSPECTION

Summary/Abstract: The State Labour Inspection (PIP) performs many functions related to ensuring the rule of law inlabour relations, but also in non-labour relations. In general, the activity of PIP is associated withinspection and surveillance activities, which is correct, as this is what this institution was establishedfor. It should be noted, however, that the said control institution also performs many other functions,including a conciliation function. The importance of this function cannot be overestimated, especial-ly if all its possible manifestations and outcomes are analysed. The significance of this activity is allthe more discernible when the historical context is taken into account. The meaning of the concili-ation function of the State Labour Inspection for ensuring an appropriate ‘social climate and order’does indeed resonate with the constitutional concept of the social market economy.
