Summary/Abstract: Energy transition is one of the most important global challenges at political, social and economiclevels. Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has realised the meaning of energy security in theCentral and Eastern European region like never before, while at the same time being a catalystfor the energy transition process – accelerating political and social decisions in this regard. In theregion under discussion, the energy transition, in addition to decarbonisation, the developmentof energy efficiency and electrification of the economy is also closely linked to the derusificationof the energy sector and the “battle” for economic competitiveness associated with the formationof new competitive advantages in international markets. This work analyses the energy transitionprocess from the point of view of Central and Eastern Europe in the context of geopolitical andgeo-economic conditions.
