Summary/Abstract: The year 2024 marks the 150th anniversary of Wincenty Witos’ birth, commemorated by the Polish Parliament declaring it the Year of Wincenty Witos. Such initiatives are crucial for shaping historical memory, fitting into the concept of public history, which emerged in the 1970s in the USA as “history for the people, by the people, with the people, and about the people.” Contemporary public history encompasses various forms like museums, monuments, murals, commemorative coins, postage stamps, and films. Museums, such as the Wincenty Witos Museum in Wierzchosławice, play a vital role in preserving his legacy. Monuments and murals in various Polish cities, and even abroad, highlight his historical significance. Commemorative coins and postage stamps also contribute to popularizing his figure. Films and TV series depict Witos in different historical contexts. Wincenty Witos is also the patron of many schools and streets in Poland, reflecting his lasting presence in the public space.
