Summary/Abstract: Those who follow cultural events and news from Hungary know that this year is dedicated to Petőfi, as the revolutionary poet was born 200 years ago, on January 1, 1823. (Just as a side note, last year was the Tamási Áron year, commemorating the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Transylvanian writer.) But where was Petőfi born? – we may ask. Even today, there is much debate surrounding this. We all learned that he was born in Kiskőrös, but until 1857, his biographies stated that he was born in Szabadszállás. However, there are also arguments suggesting that he was born in Kiskunfélegyháza.
