After the initial joy, one clenches their fists, grits their teeth, counts to ten—perhaps saving the flowerpot in the process—and begins preparing for the second edition, as the new data is guaranteed to be missing from the first. How wonderful it would be if books functioned like Linux or other open-source software—modifiable at any time, easily corrected, and instantly updated with newly discovered information.
