Summary/Abstract: This contribution is dedicated to a report in the Chronicle of Zbraslav (Chronicon Aulae regiae) that informs about the intention of Wenceslaus II to establish a studium generale in Prague. It starts with a presentation of the sources and a detailed presentation of existing research regarding the king’s alleged intention. Then, some common misconceptions and errors are highlighted (such as the dating of Wenceslaus’s intention to 1294) and an alternative reading of the report in the chronicle presented and explained. Most notably, it is demonstrated that the report in the Chronicle of Zbraslav was just a fabulation, merely part of an effort to portray Wenceslaus II as the ideal ruler.
