Summary/Abstract: Recent developments in the field of the discourse analysis have shown that the conditional reveals special ways through which the locutor expresses one attitude of adherence or non-responsibility regarding the presented facts/aspects. This paper represents an analysis of the occurences of the conditional verb in the Romanian language, in the political articles of the written press/press language. In the analysis, we followed the polyphonic configuration that was theorized by the Scandinavian linguists Henning Nølke, Kjersti Fløtum and Coco Norén, consisting of speaker, discursive being, enunciative link and point of view. The interest is centered on the ways in which press articles containing verbs in the conditional mood can transpose points of view that differ from those of the author. The research methods used are the admitted paraphrases and the conditional verbs, as well as the contextual analysis of the lexical means that generate polyphonic effects.
