Summary/Abstract: Despite the varied and increasingly advanced means of information, translation and interpretation of texts still face inaccuracies, resulting from a lack of deep understanding of the original language. The "dragomans," the interpreters of our days, identify totally inappropriate linguistic equivalents in various sources, caused by a lack of understanding of the respective culture and civilization. This is one of the reasons why Nadia-Nicoleta Morărașu and Floriana Popescu, both university professors, created An English-Romanian Explanatory Dictionary of Onomastic Phrasemes/Dicționar explicativ de frazeme onomastice, "the first English-Romanian phraseological dictionary that presents only onomastic expressions or, in other words, those expressions that include a proper name. Both the English and Romanian languages operate with a wide variety of proper names such as personal names (real or fictional) and geographical names or toponyms (hydronyms, oikonyms, oronyms) used with a different meaning than that of designation and individualization of people or places" (Morărașu, Popescu: 2024, p. ii). Romanian culture does not yet have any other similar achievement, although proper names have attracted the attention of our linguists (Al. Graur, N.A. Constantinescu, etc.).
