BRIEF COMMENTARY ON REGULATION (EU) 2024/1689 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL OF 13.06.2024 ESTABLISHING HARMONIZED RULES

Summary/Abstract: On June 13, 2024, the Council of Europe approved, and on July 12, 2024,promulgated Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of the European Parliament establishing harmonizedrules on artificial intelligence, or so-called "The AI Act". It marks the end of a long period ofnegotiations between the member countries, which began as early as 2021. The adoptedregulation is the first AI regulation of its kind and is entirely oriented towards humanprotection. It creates new rules for member states that guarantee the rights and freedoms ofcitizens and regulate public relations that arise on the creation and use of artificial intelligencesystems.This statement aims to highlight the main principles, rights and obligations, terms andconsequences that are provided for in the Regulation
