Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to examine the current state of financial autonomy of local authorities in Romania, identifying the main challenges they face and proposing practical solutions to strengthen it. Without genuine financial autonomy, local authorities cannot deliver quality public services, invest in development, or promptly respond to the needs of their citizen.
