Summary/Abstract: The 17th International Congress of Medieval Canon Law took place in Canterbury from July 7 to 13, 2024, organized by the International Society of Medieval Canon Law. This prestigious event, held every four years, alternates between Europe and the United States. The congress opened with a ceremony honoring Saint Thomas Becket, followed by sessions at the University of Kent. Renowned experts like David d’Avray and Ludger Körntgen delivered plenary lectures, while various sections covered topics such as illuminated manuscripts, heresies, and the relationship between canon and secular law. Participants also enjoyed an exhibition at the Canterbury Cathedral Archive and an excursion to historical sites in East Kent. The event concluded with a banquet featuring "greetings from the nations," where representatives humorously introduced their countries. The next congress will be held in Pamplona, Spain, organized by the Universidad de Navarra.
