THE ROLE AND IMPACT OF ROMANIAN PROPER NAMES IN THE LINGUISTIC CONSTRUCTION OF THE DESTINATION ROMANIA IN CURRENT FRENCH TOURIST GUIDES

Summary/Abstract: In our paper, we aim to address the issue of proper names in the current French tourist guides about Romania and, in this sense, to understand how they contribute to the construction, from a linguistic point of view, of the referent Romania. Our objectives are to inventory and classify proper names, taking into account the fact that there is a diversified range, necessary for the construction of the referent such as: geographical names, oronyms, oicons, hydronyms, onomastics with historical notoriety, religious anthroponyms, names of personalities, etc. Articulating the quantitative approach (through statistical measurements with the help of the textual data analysis programs IRaMuTeQ and Cordial Pro,) with the qualitative one, our approach is based on an electronic corpus, consisting of four guides Guides Bleus Évasion. Romania (GB 2004), Guide Vert Romania Michelin (GV 2008), Le guide du routard. Romania (GR 2018), Le Petit Futé Romania (GPF 2018). We consider that the computerized analysis of our corpus of tourist guides facilitates faster sorting of linguistic data and offers multiple possibilities for their investigation, however, the methodological choices and the interpretation of the results belong to the researcher.
